On our way to Padstow we will stop off in Bodmin for a trip on Cornwall's Premier Steam Railway through the delightful local countryside. Leaving Bodmin at 12:15 we will arrive in Padstow in time for lunch and the afternoon to explore the town. Sitting on the estuary of the River Camel, it was originally called Petroc-stowe after the Welsh missionary St Petroc. The church of St Petroc is full of interesting things to see and is well worth a visit. During the mid-nineteenth century Padstow had major trading links with Canada. Today it is a pretty fishing port with lots of interesting shops and cafés on offer.
